Episode 5 –The Last Stroke is about the final mile – those moments when everything has to come together and mental strength determines triumph or disappointment.
After months of training, equipment testing and tactical discussions, everything is ready on the big day. But then it's not just your physical condition that counts – it's your mental strength.
Mathias Flückiger describes it like this: «There were times when I focused too much on results and the smallest details. That often slowed me down. Today I know that you have to have confidence in your own abilities – then anything can happen.»
Coach Bruno Diethelm also emphasises: «The world's top athletes are closer together todaythan ever before. Only those who are mentally prepared can tap into their physical abilities one hundred per cent – and thus force luck to be on their side in the race.»
Episode 5 impressively shows that in top-class sport, it is not only your legs but also your head that determines victory or defeat. It is a story about trusting inyour own strengths, about the ability to let go – and about the power to drawon everything you have at the decisive moment.
